**Senior Director, Project Management**

**Job Location**: Madrid - Spain (home based - any Spain location considered)**Job Overview**:
The Senior Director Project Management is responsible for all aspects of the department including quality and performance, budget, staff resourcing and selection, and support of study deliverables. They ensure that project management staff effectively manage projects on time and within budget, delivering consistent quality and mitigating risk.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:

Line Management and Departmental Responsibilities
- Takes leading role in identifying, prioritizing, and driving department initiatives
- May take on delegated responsibilities from Senior Project Management Leadership
- Provides line management and technical support to direct reports. Works with assigned direct reports on career development and growth opportunities. Is accountable to provide ongoing feedback, guidance on personal development goals, and performance management for assigned reports.
- Responsible for selection, training, development and retention of high performing talent and strengthening talent bench
- Optimize the profitability of the department to meet or exceed budgeted margins
- Track and assess staff allocation, utilization and time versus budget within the department
- Ensure that staff maintain effective communication and collaboration with other departments
- Work with line managers to ensure that any study, staff or communication issues are accurately and promptly escalated and resolved
- Champion a culture of project management excellence such that project management staff have a deep understanding of their role and are able to perform to the highest standards
- Identifies training needs and creates role-based training plans for the project management department in order to ensure consistency and quality service delivery across the organization.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement, and drive and/or support the effort to develop and implement process change.
- Develop and implement project management tools and standards that deliver informative performance metrics and other critical information to stakeholders
- Develop and deliver high quality training to enhance project management skills
- Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring and supports PMs with proactive project issue resolution.
- May mentor new DPM staff
- Participate in internal/external audits as well as regulatory agency inspections as required
- Ensure that staff work to the highest standard in compliance with current SOPs, relevant guidelines/polices and regulatory requirements

Project Oversight
- Responsible for ensuring that project managers are well trained and well equipped to deliver project on time, to a high standard of quality and within budget
- Provides oversight to the PMs assigned to their projects in order to ensure adherence to project scope, SOPs, timelines, and budget requirements
- Collaborates with clients and maintains regular contact as required for each project/program
- As required, participates and attends relationship governance meetings.

Business Development
- Engage with clients and supports Clinipace’s business development needs
- Contributes to business development strategies when needed, including RFI response, proposal development, bid defense preparation and presentations
- Perform other duties as required by the Department/Company

**Supervisory Responsibilities**:
Provides work direction and oversight to Project Management staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

**Job Requirements**:

- Education
- Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree preferred or equivalent clinical research experience.
- Experience
- 9+ years of clinical project management with at least 4+ years of full service, multi-national project experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in clinical research industry.
- 12+ years clinical research background, with medical and scientific knowledge preferred.
