Head of Strategic Grants Office

The **Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute** (IJC) is a non-profit research institute based in Barcelona dedicated to advancing the understanding of leukemia and related disorders, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in 5 clinical locations: i) Hospital Clínic, ii) Hospital de Sant Pau and iii) Hospital Germans Trias Pujol iv) Hospital del Mar and v) Hospital Josep Trueta Girona. IJC serves as a collaborative center for basic researchers and physicians to work together on fundamental clinical and biological aspects of leukemia. The IJC offers an excellent work environment based on a multidisciplinary fusion of state-of-the-art ideas and facilities.

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is looking for a **Head of Strategic grants office**. Will be responsible of the pre and post award phases of the strategic grants. The professional must have proven experience in the scouting, promotion and preparation of proposals for public and private funding at national or international level as well as in effectively management of projects funding, following conditions of the funding bodies and internal policies.

**What we need**
- Bachelor’s degree in Economic/Finance or Life Sciences (other areas also accepted if proven working experience in project management).
- Min 5-year experience in the preparation, managing and auditing competitive international research projects. Experience in biomedical research projects is required.
- Good Knowledge of the European and National Research Ecosystem
- Experience coordinating a grants office will be a plus.
- Good knowledge of Office 365; advanced Excel skills.
- Proven experience using ERP or data management programmes.
- Desirable competences: good communication and listening skills, good team player, problem-solver and customer-oriented, high-performance capacity and high level of interest, ability to work under deadlines and handle varying workloads with high responsibility and independency, positive attitude and able to work with different internal and external collaborators with different professional profiles.
- Excellent fluency in written and spoken English, Spanish and Catalan. Other languages knowledge might be an asset.

**Responsibilities include**:
**Transversal Tasks**:

- Detection of funding opportunities and presentation of institutional projects.
- Coordination with other units mainly with as Innovation, Human Resources (HR), Finance, Purchase, Data Management, Communication as well as the the National Grants Office
- Localization and fit policy trends into research.
- Contribution to establishing bridges - strategic alliances.
- Participation in the monitoring and execution of the IJC Strategic Plan.
- Participation in the preparation of qualitative accreditations of excellence.
- Participation in institutional assessments required by funding agencies.
- Participation in the monitoring of institutional and research indicators.
- Promotion of the RRI culture within the institute.
- Coordination with other units as HR, Finance and the National Grants Office

**International Pre-award**:

- Identification of international funding opportunities and effective dissemination within the IJC groups (including organisation of information days)
- According to the IJC strategy, promotion of participation in international calls: personalized dissemination, seminars, evaluation together with the Group Leaders of the IJC about the new possible calls, etc.
- Preparation/revision of legal documents such as Grant Agreement. Consortium Agreement, Partnerships Agreement, MTA, NDA and any other contract (support from the legal advice)
- Follow up of the administrative process until the final resolution of the call.

**International Post-award**:

- Support IJC Group Leaders and other researcher staff in the economic and administrative management of the research grants and fellowships.
- Planning and supervision and control of the budget on the assigned projects. Provide regular follow-up to Group Leaders and researchers.
- Management of administrative, legal and financial issues of R&D projects (follow-up, management of deviations, etc).
- Elaboration and presentation of reports and any other information to the corresponding public bodies.
- Liaising with partners, coordinators, funding bodies. and other public or private administrations.
- Coordination and follow-up of audits in relation to the supporting accounts.
- Attendance to conferences, training sessions and meetings of interest opportunities.
- Supervise financial, legal and administrative tasks to the Project Managers managing specific coordinated projects (this staff are current directly supervised by the group leader acting as coordinator)
