The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive **cancer research center** dedicated to conduct research and drive innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the final aim of finding a cure for these diseases. It was created in 2010, and since then has experienced an exponential growth.

The IJC is also part of the network of Excellence Research Centers of Catalonia **(CERCA)** and was accredited as a **Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence** by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities in 2024. Since 2018, the Institute has also been accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer **(FCAECC)** Additionally, IJC is one of the centers integrated into the Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) accreditation as Accredited Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute **(ISCIII)**.

The IJC's main headquarters is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, alongside other leading biomedical institutions, providing direct access to cutting-edge scientific and technological facilities, as well as complementary community services. The IJC has **six locations integrated into reference hospitals**: Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital Josep Trueta, Hospital del Mar and Hospital San Joan de Déu. This facilitates close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, fostering translational research that integrates basic science with clinical practice in clinical settings.

We are seeking a **MANAGING DIRECTOR**for our institute.

**MAIN RESPONSABILITIES**
- Direct the administrative organisation of the Institute.
- Direct the economic and accounting management, the management of funds from other institutions or agencies, the preparation of the annual accounts, as well as the proper performance of the administrative tasks of the Institute, the processing of documentation and the preparation of its administrative report.
- Execute on behalf of the Institute the work contracts, and the contracts for services and supplies as delegated by the Board of Trustees.
- Manage, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Board of Trustees, the human resources of the Institute, staff hiring, incidents, termination of employment and service contracts, as well as the scholarships and grants management.
- Provide the administrative support for the meetings of the Board of Trustees and the rest of the IJC bodies.
- Ensure the good condition and functioning of the IJC's assets and monitor its inventory. Execute treasury borrowing operations. Carry out all kinds of legal acts and business of administration on all kinds of movable, immovable and valuable property, in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Jointly approving the internal rules of operation of the institute with the Director and in agreement with the Board of Trustees.
- Support the IJC Director in the development of strategic networks and alliances and maximize collaborations between IJC and relevant research institutions at local, national and international levels.
- Maintain regular meetings with the International Foundation Josep Carreras
- Capitalise on the institutional strengths of partners within the CERCA, REGIC networks and SOMMA alliance.
- Guarantee the highest standards of integrity, transparency and compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Legal representation of IJC
- Endorse and transmit the core values of the IJC (Scientific and Social Ethic, Interdisciplinarity, Equality and diversity, Creativity, Perseverance and continuous improvement and sustainability).
- Participate in the periodic evaluation of the IJC by CERCA, AECC and other external or internal assessment.
- Perform any other functions that might be approved by the Board of Trustees

**MANAGING DIRECTOR´S PROFILE**
- A strong training background in Business Management is required. Postgraduate level in Business, or PhD or Master degree on sciences will be strongly valued.
- Previous experience of a minimum of 3 years as administrative director (or similar) in research institutions. 5 years or more will be highly valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the public research sector.
- Leadership experience, maintaining the highest ethical standards, honesty, transparency, and trustworthiness, and valuing diversity, equality and inclusion.
- Communication skills necessary for managing a multicampus research institute.
- High capacity and skills to manage and lead highly specialized professional teams.
