**The Tenant Support Officer role**:
**Key duties and responsibilities of our Tenant Support Officer**:

- Deliver the actions determined by our Financial Inclusion Strategy and Welfare Reform Action Plan and promote the primary objectives of our rent arrears strategy which focus on the prevention of arrears and a firm but fair approach towards income collection.
- Keep up to date with legislation changes involving housing benefits and welfare reform.
- Retain a raised awareness of the impact of the welfare reform changes on customers, advise how the service needs to adapt in response and be proactively involved in the implementation of procedures deemed to be good practice.
- To work in partnership with tenants and agencies to sustain projects that promotes Financial Inclusion.
- Provide practical support to tenants on ways to save money and manage their money.
- Maintain accurate records of the work undertaken and evidence the success of this post by providing monthly performance statistics using a result-based accountability framework.
- Maintain robust and auditable information systems in line with service requirements to enable effective case management and performance management.
- Develop personal budgeting / support plans while working with tenants to better enable them to manage their finances.
- Work with eligible applicants and tenants to identify their life goals, employment skills and aspirations for work / training.
- Identify issues of concern in a professional manner, report and act upon any incidents requiring further intervention to the appropriate agency.
- To assess tenants needs & award claims in line with the Discretionary Housing Payment scheme in accordance with government legislation, case law and local policy in conjunction with the DWP guidance.

**What we’re looking for in our Tenant Support Officer**:

- NVQ Level 4 in a relevant qualification or equivalent, or relevant experience of delivering welfare and housing benefit advice in a customer facing role
- Experience of working in social housing or advice work related to financial inclusion and income maximisation
- Good understanding of the principals of financial inclusion and up to date knowledge of good practice in financial inclusion and income maximisation
- An understanding and commitment to working safely within the workplace
