**Job Description**:
What you’ll be doing

As an Associate in Commercial Banking, you will provide a broad range of analytical, research and presentation preparation support to the professionals within the team. You’ll provide support to account teams through client acquisition, relationship management and credit management processes as well as providing transactional support for client specific financing solutions. You will be collaborating with partners across CIBC’s broader treasury management, mergers & acquisition, debt & equity capital markets, sponsor finance and corporate risk management groups. This role will prepare you for a career as a Relationship Manager to corporate clients. You will be committed to delivering on flexible business solutions, dedicated business expertise and timely business advice to help clients realize their goals.

How you’ll succeed
- Relationship Building - Take advantage of in-depth technical and industry knowledge, as well as the geopolitical environment to generate ideas/opportunities that can be discussed with the relevant relationship manager and/or deal/coverage team. Coordinate client-focused and/or deal-focused “brainstorming” sessions with relevant team members and product specialists. Develop relationships and actively communicate with various appropriate contacts. Develop and maintain an internal network with product groups, other business groups, etc. Develop and maintain an external network with the market (i.e., Key stakeholders, prospects, etc.) and support CIBC’s image through involvement in community activities.
- Research & evaluation - Assist in evaluating business growth opportunities through comprehensive industry, client and prospect research. Prepare analyses in support of credit submissions including structuring and documentation.

Who you are
- You have a degree/diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Education you’ve completed. Previous real estate, corporate finance, investment banking, and/or private equity experience, CA, CPA, or CFA designations are considered an asset.
- You’re detail oriented. Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. You must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility within brief time frames.
