Engineering Manager

We are looking for an Engineering manager to lead a newly established product team creating core parts of the Deepnote experience.
Deepnote is still a small company with only 3 product teams in total so we will have significant impact on the technology choices, direction of the product and also well being of the engineers. You will be managing ~5 of them which will also leave you enough time for hands on work on the product itself, using a modern technology stack (TS, GraphQL, K8s). The teams have a lot of freedom and autonomy, so you will be able to work together to pick tools and setup processes that serve you well.
**Our stack**:
- Typescript, React, GraphQL
- Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis
- Kubernetes, AWS
- Design system with components in Storybook
**What you'll work on**:
- You will lead ~5 engineers in a product team owning large part of Deepnote experience.
- You will own the delivery agenda - setting the agile processes, clearly defining tasks, distributing them among the team and setting everyone up for success.
- You will select the right tools and processes for the job with the help of your teammates and Deepnote leadership.
- You will participate in product discovery along with PD and PM on your team where you will help to set the future direction of Deepnote.
- You will have time to also do hands-on development along with other engineers in the team.
- You will mentor the engineers and care for their career progress, well being and personal development.
- You will be involved in hiring process to grow your team and also Deepnote as a company.
**About you**:
- You have lead people in the past, you loved the experience and you set them up for success.
- The mission of Deepnote resonates with you and you can drive the team to work towards our common goal.
- You have extensive experience with development of complex systems (ideally SaaS products) and worked before with some technologies in our stack.
- You can identify, callout and resolve process inefficiencies.
- You always make sure that proposed work benefits the customer.
- While you might not be always the strongest engineer on the team, you love to collaborate. and you are eager to learn.

- If you extensively worked with notebooks or BI tools before.
