EIT Climate-KIC operates as a not-for-profit platform working through public-private partnership, wielding both public and private funding. We consist of 3 Legal entities: a Dutch BV Holding company (for profit) with 14 branches in European jurisdictions, providing grant management, innovation orchestration services, and impact investment advisory owned by a Dutch-based foundation with charity status - Climate-KIC International Foundation. Historically, we have been funded by our founder and core funder, the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), but we are currently transitioning to a multi-funder model.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

EIT Climate-KIC is co-leading with the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) a national multi-stakeholder platform in Spain to implement the European Mission for Climate Neutral and Smart Cities (citiES 2030).

The objective of this platform is to provide services to Spanish cities to facilitate and accelerate their systemic transformation towards climate neutrality by 2030. The platform is currently supporting 17 cities to become climate neutral by using the mission approach and offering three levels of services: networking, training, and implementation.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Facilitating spaces for interaction and participation of the private sector in the platform.
- Contributing to design and implement a framework aiming at bringing private investment to the development of the EU cities mission in Spain, with special attention to the building sector.
- Contributing to develop new financial vehicles to fill the finance gap to implement the Spanish Climate City Contracts, in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders within the NetZeroCities program and other programs working on the decarbonization of the built environment.
- Supporting the deployment of the services the platform is offering to Spanish cities and other platform members.

**Key Working Relationships**

The coordinator will orchestrate the initiatives related to the engagement of private sector in the implementation of the Cities Mission in Spain, with a multilevel approach:

- European level: Follow up the work of NetZeroCities programme and connect the learnings and services with the Spanish national platform. Facilitate collaboration with partners offering finance services in Europe (especially South Pole).
- Spanish level: Coordinate the work with the private sector in all platform activities. Facilitate the relationship with the European and local level. Local level: Develop local instruments to attract private investments of private funding schemes to the Mission cities. Ensure knowledge transfer from national/European scale to local scale and sensemaking of different local actors.

Additionally, the coordinator will work internally with other teams in EIT Climate-KIC to foster the research of synergies that can contribute to the objectives and results of the platform.

**ABOUT YOU**

To be successful in this role you will need to be a team player, resilient to uncertainty and adaptive to a changing role to better support cities. You will also need to lead meetings and have strong oral and written communication skills. It will also be useful to know the ecosystem of actors in Spain and their incentives, as well as the context of the EU Missions.

Additionally, you should have strong technical skills related to finance urban transformation towards climate neutrality. Furthermore, it is strongly recommended to be familiar with the Spanish context in terms of regulation and governance.

**Education/Qualifications**
- Holding a Master’s degree. Complementary education related to climate topics will be highly appreciated.

**Experience**
- 7+ years of experience in working with the private sector (preferably also with finance entities).
