**General information**: **City**:Barcelona **Country**:Spain **Creation Date**:21-Aug-2024 **Employment Type**:Permanent **Employment Type**:Full time **Ref #**:1234571029 **Description & Requirements**: - Role Title: Casualty Underwriter- Department: Casualty- Team: Casualty Spain (Barcelona team)- Location: Barcelona- Type: Permanent FTE - About the Role: - Casualty Underwriter, reporting into me and working in close cooperation with our Senior Underwriter leading our Casualty business in Barcelona office. - Main duties and responsibilities: - Underwriting Casualty business. - Dealing with both new business and renewal submissions. Having in place the appropriate U/W Authority is required. - Cooperating with the Operations team for policy issuance purposes (i.e. issuing policy docs, such as policy wordings, certificates of insurance and endorsements). - Checking documents: Submissions, underlying policies, slips and loss records.Using the rating tool and all the supporting systems (e.g. Rulebook, DOT, PowerBI, RFID, Worldwise, Peer Reviews and Underwriting Authority Governance, etc.).- Key Responsibilities: - Supporting the growth of the Casualty business in the Barcelona market. Dealing with underwriting tasks, such as pricing and assessing liability risks, following our risk appetite, Underwriting Guidelines and Treaty framework. - Dealing with the brokers on the New Business side, reviewing the submissions and following the whole underwriting process. - Dealing with renewal business (negotiating renewal terms & conditions with the brokers, assessing the exposure development, loss experience, issuing the appropriate referrals, etc.). - As such, this headcount should be familiar with all our in-house tools (e.g. Rulebook, DOT, PowerBI, RFID, Peer Reviews and Underwriting Authority Governance, etc.). - Additionally, handling all the underwriting related tasks is also required, such as file completion, peer reviews and participating on the IPR as appropriate. - Marketing role by supporting the existing Senior Underwriter regarding visits, meetings and keeping and increasing our commercial activity.Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. These requirements include the Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules ,Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing- Skills and Experience: - Appropriate university degree or higher education qualification (Law Degree preferably) or equivalent - Understanding of insurance contract with experience in Casualty underwriting with understanding of other liability lines - Good level of communication skills. - Organized. - Service oriented. - Needs to show commitment and willingness to learn and developed his/her professional career.Fluent in Spanish, English and Catalan.
