Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence—a seal that was awarded in 2011.

The institute is devoted to conducting research of excellence in biomedicine and to transferring results to clinical practice, thus improving people’s quality of life, while simultaneously promoting the training of outstanding researchers, technology transfer, and public communication of science. Its 28 laboratories and seven core facilities address basic questions in biology and are orientated to diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and rare conditions.

IRB Barcelona is an international centre that hosts 400 members and 35 nationalities. It is located in the Barcelona Science Park. IRB Barcelona forms part of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the “Xarxa de Centres de Recerca de Catalunya” (CERCA).

**IRB Barcelona is seeking a motivated scientific biomedical professional (veterinarian, biologist, biotechnologist or from a similar area of knowledge) with proven skills microscopy, image analysis and histomolecular techniques to cover a position in the Histopathology Facility.**

**DUTIES**:

- Computerized pathology: Use of the different image analysis tools and interpretation of the data. Able to build new solutions and challenges in biomedical imatge analysis using artificial intelligence (AI).
- Drive ideas and provide expertise in digital pathology solutions and methods to support Immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence and in-situ hybridization (RNAscope) experimental studies.
- Integrate the information obtained by imatge analysis with other histopathological data.

**EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS**:
**Must Have - Required**
- **Experience**: PhD or postdoc in Veterinary, Biology, Biotechnology degree or equivalent with previous experience in a biomedicine laboratory of pathology or similar.

Computer skills and strong interest in digital pathology and AI; experience in this area is a plus.
- **Knowledge**: Basic knowledge in Histology, Pathology, and other related fields. Basic knowledge of immunohistochemical (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) techniques, and other molecular techniques.
- **Skills**: Fluent English (written and oral), Informatics and Statistics skills, Self-motivated, pro-active and eager to drive innovation in the area of digital pathology, Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

**Desirable**
- **Experience**: Necropsy and sample collection.
- **Skills**: Work team abilities and custom orientation.

**WORKING CONDITIONS & ENTITLEMENTS**:
