Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence—a seal that was awarded in 2011.

The institute is devoted to conducting research of excellence in biomedicine and to transferring results to clinical practice, thus improving people’s quality of life, while simultaneously promoting the training of outstanding researchers, technology transfer, and public communication of science. Its 29 laboratories and seven core facilities address basic questions in biology and are orientated to diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and rare conditions.

IRB Barcelona is an international centre that hosts 500 members and 45 nationalities. It is located in the Barcelona Science Park. IRB Barcelona forms part of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the “Xarxa de Centres de Recerca de Catalunya” (CERCA).

**Key responsabilities**:

- Perform routine histological techniques and staining, including:

- Tissue processing: sample preparation, trimming, paraffin embedding
- Sectioning of paraffin and frozen tissues
- Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining, as well as special histochemical stains
- Conduct immunohistochemical (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) staining protocols
- Operate digital slide scanning systems and assist in image analysis workflows
- Ensure proper documentation, quality control, and maintenance of laboratory records and equipment

**You have**:

- ** Education & Experience**:

- Anatomic Pathology “Formación Profesional” (FP) or equivalent vocational training
- At least 1 year of experience working in a histopathology laboratory
- **Knowledge**:

- Basic proficiency in routine histology techniques
- Knowledge of IHC, IF, and other molecular pathology procedures
- Familiarity with digital imaging and basic image analysis tools
- **Skills**:

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Basic computer literacy and digital documentation skills
- **Languages**:

- Basic proficiency in English (spoken and written)

**You might also have**:

- ** Experience**:

- Background in experimental pathology within a biomedical research setting
- **Knowledge**:

- In-depth experience with advanced IHC/IF techniques and molecular pathology assays
- Understanding of image acquisition and analysis platforms
- **Skills**:

- Problem-solving aptitude and a strong service-oriented mindset
- Ability to adapt protocols and provide customized technical support

**WORKING CONDITIONS & ENTITLEMENTS**:
