What we’re looking for
We are looking for a lecturer for the area of Materials Science - Biomaterials with a PhD in engineering, mainly in the following fields but not limited to: materials science, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering, who will be required to teach the following areas of knowledge: biomaterials, materials engineering, advanced materials, forming technology.
Key responsibilities
- To lead the management and/or coordination of programmes and perform any other
academic tasks assigned to you by the Department.
We offer
- A full-time contract in a dynamic and international scientific environment in the
Department of Bioengineering (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) at UIC
Barcelona (Health Sciences Campus, Sant Cugat del Vallès)
- Lab bench in a wet lab and use of the Department’s scientific equipment
- Start date: March 2025 (date is negotiable).

- A PhD in a discipline related to the position
Assessment criteria
- Excellent track record of publications
- Participation in funded research projects
- Research experience:
- Materials science: biomaterial formulation and material
characterisation
- Biological sciences: cell seeding onto biomaterials, cell
- material interaction characterisation
- Proven record of effective teaching
- Oral and written proficiency in English
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to get involved in one of the Faculty’s lines of research
- Ability to supervise and guide both undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects.
Selection process
- A public oral defence by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects. Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence. The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.
