**JOB SUMMARY**:
As our Country Medical Director (MD) for Spain, you will have the opportunity to lead the medical function and the development and delivery of Country / Region medical affairs strategy and programs that support the successful commercialization of BioCryst products in their assigned market/s.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Ensures a strong alignment with the Country / Region General Manager to achieve the country specifics objectives and ensure a successful launch in the markets
- Ensures development and delivery of the Medical Affairs strategy and country plans in close collaboration with cross-functional, EU, and global colleagues
- Ensures development and implementation of the country scientific communications and publications plan
- Ensures country needs are effectively communicated to partners in the EU and globally so that there is alignment on strategy and plans at all levels
- Builds and develops effective and collaborative relationships with National Key Opinion Leaders and Patient Organization in the Country / Region
- Identifies and delivers relevant data generation activities including Investigator Sponsored Studies
- Delivers quality medical information to internal and external customers and works with external and internal customers to ensure the appropriate use of BioCryst medicines
- Supports creation of value dossiers and provides medical input in discussions with the National reimbursement bodies
- Ensures all activities and materials are executed in accordance with all local regulatory and legal frameworks as well as BioCryst policies, International and National compliance procedures
- Builds and develops a high performing Medical team in their respective market
- Attend appropriate scientific congresses to stay abreast of developments and to support National KOL activities
**EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS**:
- MD Degree is required
- Country professional body registration is required
- Fluency in English language is essential
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills, is essential
- Ph.D. and/or MBA qualifications would be a plus
- Experience working successfully in a senior Medical Affairs position (preferably in the rare/orphan or specialty disease space) with country leadership experience required
- A motivated professional with a “can do” attitude willing to work in a fast-paced, high accountability, small company environment, able to achieve measurable results in a given timeline
- New Product Launch experience for a Pharmaceutical/Biotech product would be preferred
- Experience in supporting the creation of product value dossiers and negotiations with the National, country-specific, reimbursement bodies is essential
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus and collaborate successfully with multiple functions in a global team environment
- A strong understanding of the dynamics and the decision processes of the relevant health systems
- Motivated by the ability to shape new treatment paradigms for high-unmet medical needs in rare diseases
- An outstanding communicator and medical educator who thrives on peer-to-peer interaction and has a demonstrated ability to cultivate opinion leaders
- Ability to understand, influence, and collaborate in a diverse team-based organization
- Able to maintain professional skills and learn new ones when necessary
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain timelines
- Competence with standard office computer software tools
- Ability to travel for general business and visit treatment centers in the Country / Region (~40%)
