**Department Overview**

Fitch’s European Structured Finance (SF) team maintains and assigns ratings to SF transactions across four main asset classes: Asset Backed Securities, Residential Mortgage Backed Securities, Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities and Structured Credit. The team currently maintains surveillance on over 1,500 European SF transactions.

Furthermore, the Covered Bonds (CvB) team maintains about 100 public ratings mainly in Europe, but also in Americas and Asia-Pacific. The Madrid-based SF & CvB team comprises currently nine analysts and it is responsible for assigning and maintaining ratings on more than 150 Iberian transactions.

We are seeking an Associate Director / Director level credit analyst to join our Madrid SF & CvB team. You will focus on the analysis of SF transactions and CvB programmes issued out of Iberia, to provide high quality credit opinions to investors and market participants. You will be in charge of a portfolio of credits and you will prepare rating proposals for presentation to internal rating committees.

The role encompasses:

- Analysing transactions in line with Fitch’s rating criteria and presenting rating recommendations to internal committees;
- Implementing cash flow modelling;
- Reviewing transaction legal documents;
- Conducting on-site reviews of underwriting and servicing practices of originators;
- Communicating rating rationale to investors and other market participants through presale reports, presentations, research and meetings;
- Communicating with transaction arrangers and originators to understand asset characteristics and structural features of the transactions; and
- Assisting the development of research and criteria.

Fitch Ratings supports its analysts with internal training through the Fitch Credit Academy. Analysts are expected to study SF modules, participate in internal training sessions and pass various assessments according to their level of experience. Fitch also requires analysts to participate in training on its policies and procedures.

**Qualifications and Experience**

Given the requirement for rating agencies to provide independent opinions, strength of character and discipline is required and you must be able to appreciate the wider regulatory environment in which Fitch operates.
