**Lab Technician**
**Diabetes and Metabolism Research Group**

VHIR offers a position for a Lab Technician within the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Group to participate in the

project “Hemopexin: a new player in microvascular complications of diabetes” con número de expediente: PI22/01670 y

financiado por el Instituto de Salud Carlos III y cofinanciado por la Unión Europea.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Education and qualifications**:
**Required: -**

Laboratory Technician or higher
- Certificate for handling animals for research use
- Good level of English

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required: -**

At least 2 years of experience working in similar position.
- Experience in animal experimentation and retinal explants.
- Experience in molecular biology techniques (histology, WB, immunofluorescence ).

**Main responsibilities and duties**:
The laboratory technician will provide support for the following tasks:
- 1) Attending to the animals by making sure of their care and welfare.
- 2) Treatment (eye drops/twice at day) administration.
- 3) Processing and conservation of the retinas
- 4) Helping in the laboratory tasks (i.e. retinal explants, PCR, immunohistochemistry and western blot analyses).
- 5) Support in lab organization.

**Labour conditions: -**

Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate.
- Gross annual salary: 22.000,00 euros /// (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are
consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
