Job Description

AECOM SpainBuilding Services Engineering teamis a highly qualified group of professionals experts in offering the best solutions to international client’s needs all around the world.

Our team, as part of the continued growth of our business, is looking for a Fire & Risk Engineerto support the plan, and who has is looking to further develop their experience in delivering multi-disciplinary projects. These projects span a diverse range of construction sectors.

Working within a dynamic, highly motivated and driven team, you will be part of our project delivery. As a Fire & Risk Engineer, you will contribute to the winning, and delivery of moderate to large scale projects.

This role will define and deliver advanced fire safety solutions across the full lifecycle of buildings and industrial facilities, combining rigorous code compliance with performance-based engineering and deep materials behaviour knowledge.

The Fire & Risk Engineerwill:

• Develop and review fire protection designs throughout all project phases, including concept, basic, and detailed engineering.
• Perform fire risk assessments and support fire engineering studies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings and provide fire protection expertise.
• Review contractor and vendor submissions to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
• Design and specify passive fire protection systems.
• Review architectural and structural drawings for compliance with fire compartmentation requirements.
• Design and review fire detection and alarm systems.
• Prepare detection layouts, cause-and-effect matrices, and system narratives.
• Coordinate detection strategies for high-risk and mission-critical environments.
• Support system testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
• Review integration requirements with building management, security, and emergency systems.
• Design and review active fire protection systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and support system sizing activities.
• Review vendor calculations, technical submittals, and equipment selections.

Qualifications

• Will hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Fire Protection Engineering or a closely related discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Structural with fire specialization).
• Fluent in English is required (verbaland written)
• Technical background, minimum 3 years related Fire Protection Design Engineering.
• Will demonstrate experience with international and local codes/standards (e.g., NFPA suite, IFC/IBC, EN/BS, FM Global Data Sheets), including performance-based design frameworks and equivalency methodologies.
