As Employment Counsel in Spain, you will lead day-to-day Spanish employment law matters within SumUp’s EU Legal Team. You’ll draft contracts and policies, advise on disciplinary actions and terminations, and support Works Council consultations while coordinating with the People Team and Barcelona leadership. You will manage external counsel for specialized support and ensure consistency of practices across Europe. This role combines local ownership with collaboration across a global, multicultural team to shape SumUp’s employment law framework in Spain.

- Provide practical day-to-day legal advice on Spanish employment law across the employee lifecycle
- Draft and review employment contracts, policies and other employment documentation
- Support Works Council consultations and collective employment matters
- Advise on disciplinary matters, terminations, mutual separation agreements and organizational change
- Manage external counsel for specialist support or litigation when needed
- Partner with the wider EU Legal Team to keep employment law practices consistent across Europe
- Qualified lawyer in Spain with 3–6 years of experience
- Experience advising HR and business stakeholders on practical, commercial matters
- Track record drafting employment contracts and managing employment disputes
- Comfort supporting Works Council relations and collective consultation processes
- Fluency in Spanish and English
