Your key responsibilities:
As Datacenter Networks Engineer, you will:
- Actively contribute to an agile working environment, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and sprint reviews.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Manager and the squad to achieve shared objectives while working from a common backlog.
- Take ownership of activities and provide guidance to the squad, helping steer initiatives that improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
- Proactively support other squads within the area and the broader tribe, acting as a trusted advisor when needed.
- Leverage video conferencing and collaboration tools to enable effective communication and teamwork across distributed teams.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with enterprise Palo Alto firewalls.
- Demonstrated experience performing firewall software upgrades and lifecycle management in production environments.
- Must have personally executed multiple upgrades on an environment of at least 40 FWs throughout their career.
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex firewall issues, including software defects, packet forwarding issues, routing problems, HA failovers, VPN failures, performance issues, and interoperability problems.
- Experience working directly with firewall vendor TAC/support for advanced troubleshooting.
- Experience limited to policy administration and firewall rule management is not sufficient for this role
- You are able to make strong conceptual connections and critically assess network designs from both technical implementation and security perspectives.
- You will need to have a broad knowledge of LAN, WAN and DC environments, to have a holistic understanding of the entire ecosystem.
- Knowledge of routing and switching protocols in a highly available environment (BGP, ARP,…)
- Expected experience in large enterprise environments (+40 devices).
- Knowledge of scripting and automation tools (Terraform, python, ansible, azure CI/CD). Knowledge on API integrations (fastAPI).
- You can manage (monitor, evaluate, continuously improve) Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management processes
- Technical implications of Security and Risk principles. How to approach access management (IAM controls, vulnerability management,..)
- Clear understanding of consumer context and needs, as well as the value-add of your service to the consumer
- Creating and improve documentation and work instructions on the delivered infrastructure solution
- Preferable one or more certifications on Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PCNSA/E)
- Experience in cloud deployment and infrastructure services is a plus
- You must have the capacity of interfacing squads and consumers to achieve an end-to-end view
- Understanding of the Scrum methodology (e.g., backlog and sprint planning, review and marketplace)
- Knowledge of DevOps way of working (e.g., continuous delivery, cross-functional team set-ups, development of cross-skilled squad members)
Your education, background & other competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English (C1 demonstrated).
- Certifications or proven proficiency in Networking and Security.
- Certifications or proven proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages.
