The hotel was originally opened in 1929 within an expansive private estate and is currently undergoing restoration and renovation, scheduled to open its doors as a Four Seasons resort in June 2024.Key Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation and baking of pastries, desserts, and bread under the guidance of senior pastry chefs.Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen, ensuring workstations, tools, and equipment are in order.Help with the storage and inventory management of baking ingredients, including proper handling, labeling, and rotation to maintain freshness.Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards to ensure consistency in pastry and dessert quality.Support the pastry team during service, ensuring efficient and timely plating of desserts and baked goods.Our Ideal Pastry Commis Candidate Will Have:Culinary Education: A diploma or certification in pastry arts or baking from a recognized culinary school, providing foundational skills in pastry techniques.Relevant Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably as a Pastry Commis or in a similar pastry-focused entry-level position.Basic Pastry Skills: Proficiency in fundamental pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, decorating, and handling basic tools such as piping bags and pastry brushes.Knowledge of Food Safety: Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, particularly in relation to dairy, eggs, and other delicate ingredients common in pastry work.Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with pastry chefs and other kitchen staff to meet high standards.Willingness to Learn: A keen interest in developing pastry and baking skills, taking direction from senior chefs and being receptive to feedback.Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in measuring, shaping, and decorating pastries to ensure precision and consistency.Time Management: Effective organizational skills to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, especially during service and preparation periods.Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to menu changes, special requests, and dietary restrictions, ensuring quality and consistency across pastry offerings.Physical Stamina: Ability to handle the demands of a high-paced kitchen, including standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks with accuracy.Communication Skills: Basic verbal communication skills to follow instructions accurately and communicate effectively with team members.Passion for Pastry Arts: A genuine enthusiasm for creating desserts and pastries, with a desire to explore flavors and techniques.Creativity: An emerging ability to contribute ideas for new pastries and dessert presentations, demonstrating creativity within the pastry department.Commitment to Quality: A dedication to maintaining high standards in pastry preparation and presentation to ensure guest satisfaction.Positive Attitude: A proactive and positive attitude, fostering a supportive and productive pastry kitchen environment.Additional Job Details:Work Experience: 1 yearDegree: Professional/TechnicianLanguages: Spanish (High Proficiency; Fluent)Position Type: Full-time, Seasonal
