You contribute to a cross-divisional project shaping autonomous flight for UAS. In Getafe, you lead preliminary design and integration work on experimental platforms, tackling multi-system interfaces and rapid prototyping. You collaborate with engineering teams to ensure airworthiness, structural integrity, and SWaP-C optimization for test missions. This role offers hands-on influence on cutting-edge flight test programs and sensor payload integration. You will work in a fast-paced R&D environment with a strong emphasis on practical, robust solutions.
Responsabilidades- Lead preliminary mechanical, structural, and electrical design for UAS prototypes and modular payload enclosures
- Define and manage ICDs for attachments, power, thermal, and data interconnects between sensors and flight test platforms
- Conduct platform integration studies to adapt systems into diverse flight assets, ensuring balance and minimal aeromechanical impact
- Accelerate iterations with rapid manufacturing, 3D printing, CNC fabrication, and wire harness integration
- Oversee ground integration, fit-checks, and thermal/EMI risk reduction prior to flight trials
- Coordinate with structural, system safety, and airworthiness teams to establish permit-to-fly documentation and safe-for-flight criteria
- Balance payload requirements with airframe boundaries, optimizing SWaP-C across variants
- 5+ years in aerospace mechanical design, physical systems integration, or rapid prototyping
- Proven ability to develop multi-disciplinary ICDs and integrate airborne equipment
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (CATIA V5/3DX, SolidWorks) for preliminary packaging and assemblies
- Understanding of weight and balance, load paths, thermal dissipation, and basic aerodynamics for external modifications
- Hands-on prototyping: additive manufacturing, tooling, and harness assembly
- Familiarity with modification design principles, DO-160 environmental qualification, and experimental flight permits (EASA/national authorities)
- Systems thinking with pragmatic approach in fast-paced R&D
- Fluent English (C1) and Spanish
- Willingness to travel nationally and to Europe for flight testing
- collaborative mindset
- systems thinking
- pragmatic and decisive technical judgment
- 3D CAD (CATIA V5/3DX, SolidWorks)
- multi-disciplinary ICD development
- rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing
