Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager Introduction

An international organization operating in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager to lead procurement and commercial activities across major projects in Southern Europe. The role will focus on sourcing strategy, contractor management, contract negotiations, and cost optimization, acting as a key link between technical, commercial, and project delivery teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end procurement activities for Balance of Plant (BoP) and infrastructure packages, including RFQs, tender management, bid evaluation, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop and execute regional sourcing strategies to support project delivery, cost optimization, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, estimating, and business development teams to optimize cost models and support project feasibility assessments.
  • Monitor construction and infrastructure markets across Europe, providing insights on contractor capacity, material cost trends, and supply chain risks.
  • Lead negotiations for high-value construction and infrastructure contracts, ensuring commercially robust and risk-balanced agreements.
  • Manage contractual, commercial, and technical interfaces with contractors and suppliers throughout project execution.
  • Support the resolution of commercial disputes, claims, schedule risks, and contractor escalations to ensure project continuity.
  • Implement processes to compare estimated costs against actual project outcomes, driving continuous improvement of forecasting and capital expenditure models.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key contractors and suppliers to support long-term project pipelines.
  • Work closely with technical, legal, and project teams to navigate local regulatory requirements, permitting processes, and grid connection frameworks.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams across different countries and business functions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10-15 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial management, or construction procurement within the renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, or related sectors.
  • Proven track record in leading complex procurement processes and negotiating high-value construction contracts.
  • Experience working with international contract frameworks such as FIDIC, NEC, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of contract management, commercial risk assessment, and procurement best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Strong commercial awareness combined with the ability to understand and challenge technical requirements.
  • Fluency in English and either Spanish or Italian.
  • Availability to travel across Europe as required.
