The Global MSL Excellence Director for Oncology is accountable for ensuring the strategic alignment of MSL activities and the development, delivery and reporting of prioritised MSL Excellence initiatives to strengthen Field Medical capabilities across AZ regions and affiliate organisations for the Oncology Business Unit.Working in collaboration with the OBU Medical Excellence teams, Global Medical Affairs Leaders, and Field Medical Leaders to provide strategic direction, implement programmes to build Oncology-specific MSL and MSL Leader capabilities, and shape the future field medical role in Oncology.Accountabilities/Responsibilities:Lead the evolution and implementation of Field Medical professional development & continual learning programmes that ensure excellence in onboarding, and enhance MSL/MSL manager performance and impactEntrench robust insight generation, capture and reporting across Local markets to strengthen business impact and value – including insights platform optimisationScope and inform functionality enhancements of Field Medical systems/digital tools to support in-field effectiveness and external engagement, and embed consistent utilisation across Local marketsSupport the best practice implementation of Global MSL Excellence deliverables (e.g. Field Medical Strategic Planning, insight evaluation and reporting, etc.) to ensure consistent ways of working across the functionProvide robust strategic guidance and insights to stakeholders regarding the diverse needs of Field Medical worldwide, to support alignment of initiatives with company prioritiesAct as a MSL subject matter expert to AZ global initiatives where Oncology MSLs are implicated. Provide insight, guidance, influence and expertise that ensures global vision for MSL role is well understoodUse business knowledge and customer-focused ethos to champion innovative and scalable Global MSL Excellence initiatives across the function and that result in valued outcomes and maximum in-country impactConduct ad-hoc analyses on projects and initiatives to proactively escalate issues, propose solutions and modify strategiesEssential RequirementsAdvanced degree in scientific discipline or applicable Health Sciences fieldExperience (~5 years) in an MSL organisation, including leadership of Field Medical teamsExperience in Global and/or Local Head Office Medical Affairs rolesExperience working in the oncology therapeutic areaStrong knowledge of medical strategy, clinical development, MSL role and Medical AffairsExperience and ability to provide strategic leadership across working groups and teamsExceptional project management skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environmentEffective problem solving using creative solutionsStrong communication and collaboration skills, and ability to influence without authorityDesirable RequirementsExperience in MSL performance management and outcomes-based reportingDesign of programmes that support the management, leadership and coaching of high performing individuals and teamsClear understanding of the compliance requirements and governing bodies for MSL programmes
