Job Description The Art Director – AI-First is responsible for concepting, designing and overseeing high‑quality visual executions across a large, multi‑market healthcare portfolio for a global pharma client. Working closely with the Design Director – AI‑First and the wider Craft team, this role ensures that every asset – from a social cutdown to a key visual or an OLV – is on brand, consistent and creatively strong across markets and channels. This is an AI‑first role: you will be expected to use AI tools as a natural extension of your art direction and design craft, from exploration and visual routes to adaptations, variations and content optimization. You’ll combine strong visual taste, attention to detail and storytelling with an efficient, system‑minded way of working. You will collaborate daily with creative, design, digital, production and post‑production teams, as well as account teams. Key Responsibilities Concept & Art Direction Translate briefs and global toolkits into clear visual concepts and storylines across digital, social, OOH, print, shopper, e‑commerce and TV. Develop master KVs and visual territories that can be scaled and adapted across markets and formats. Ensure every deliverable reflects the brand’s visual language, tone and positioning, while being tailored to each channel’s best practices. Work closely with copywriters, designers, motion and editors to bring ideas to life with clarity and impact. Design & Execution Across Formats Lead and execute design across the full spectrum of brand touchpoints – from digital and social to OOH, print, shopper, e‑commerce and TV adaptations. Turn global toolkits and briefs into coherent visual systems that work consistently across banners, social assets, OLVs, KVs, print and in‑store materials, while being able to stretch into more advanced or bespoke formats such as CGI, large formats, interactive or special shopper solutions when the brief requires it. AI‑First Creation & Workflows Use AI visual tools daily (image generation, layout assistance, concept boards, style exploration, variation and adaptation) under your own art direction criteria. Build and use AI‑ready reference packs: style references, prompt libraries, visual route explorations, etc., in alignment with the Design Director – AI‑First. Collaborate with AI specialists and producers to define efficient workflows that combine human craft and AI capabilities. Ensure that AI‑generated outputs are always curated, refined and finished with strong human design judgment, especially in sensitive healthcare content. Collaboration, Quality & Governance Work hand‑in‑hand with project managers, producers and post‑production to deliver on time and within scope, balancing creative ambition and feasibility. Apply and help refine the visual systems defined for the account: component libraries, layout logics, motion patterns and adaptation rules. Ensure every asset meets brand guidelines, medical/legal/compliance requirements and local market regulations. Participate in reviews and QA, providing clear, constructive feedback to designers, editors and external partners. Contribute to case studies, internal decks and visual documentation of key projects. Requirements & Experience Approximately 4+ years’ experience in art direction and/or design within an agency, creative studio or similar environment (healthcare/pharma experience is a strong plus). Strong portfolio showing multi‑format brand work, with emphasis on digital, social and OLV, and exposure to OOH, print, shopper and/or TV. Proven ability to work from systems and toolkits rather than only one‑off pieces: visual languages, adaptation rules, modular design. Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; After Effects is a plus) and familiarity with layout/prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, XD or similar). Hands‑on, advanced use of AI visual tools (e.g. image generation, video/motion support, layout/copy assist, automation) in real projects, not just experimentation. You can show concrete examples of how AI improved quality, speed or variation. Comfort working in or learning about regulated environments (healthcare/pharma), including collaboration with medical, legal and compliance teams. Strong sense of composition, typography, colour and visual hierarchy, with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, organise your own workload and communicate clearly about priorities and timelines. Collaborative mindset: you enjoy working with multi‑disciplinary teams (creative, design, production, digital, post, tech) and are open to feedback and iteration. Genuine curiosity about AI and the future of design, with a pragmatic, non‑dogmatic approach to adopting new tools and workflows.
