Programmatic EHS Manager
- Low Voltage DeploymentAMERAbout the RoleWe\ 're looking for a Programmatic EHS Manager to create, train, implement, and manage Nscale\ 's overall Environmental, Health & Safety program for Low Voltage. You\ 'll set the safety standards, processes, and metrics that every low-voltage project follows, and make sure they are applied consistently across sites and regions as we scale AI data center deployments.
The program covers everyone doing low-voltage work for Nscale: our full-time employees, Nscale contract employees, and the installation contractors we hire. You\ 'll own the program for Nscale\ 's own workforce and manage how installation contractors\ ' safety programs meet our standards.
Confined space entry is a major part of this role. Low-voltage work regularly takes crews into underground vaults, manholes, utility tunnels, duct banks, and other permit-required spaces, and you will make sure everyone who enters them is trained, permitted, monitored, and covered by a rescue plan.
Our sites run several safety programs at once, including the general contractor\ 's, the site owner\'s, and Nscale\ 's own. You\'ll be the low-voltage team\ 's main EHS contact with all of them. This is a program role rather than a site role, but in rare cases you will cover site safety directly when there is a gap in coverage.
What You\ 'll DoEHS Program OwnershipCreate, implement, and manage Nscale\ 's EHS program for Low Voltage, including policies, standards, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
Define program requirements for job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, permits to work, and stop-work authority.
Set standards for high-risk activities common to low-voltage work, including confined space entry, work at heights, ladders and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), work near energized equipment, lockout/tagout (LOTO), core drilling and dust control, firestopping, fiber optic handling, and material handling of cable reels and trays.
Ensure the program complies with OSHA (29 CFR 1910 and 1926, including Subpart AA for confined spaces), NFPA 70E, state requirements, and site owner and customer rules.
Training & Safety CultureBuild and deliver the low-voltage safety training program for Nscale full-time employees, contract employees, and installation contractors.
Confined space entry: train and verify competency for entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors before any entry, covering permits, atmospheric testing and continuous monitoring, ventilation, isolation, and communication.
Confined space entry: ensure every entry has a written rescue plan, with rescue services that are trained, available, and able to respond in time, and audit entries in the field.
Develop and deliver training on program standards, hazard recognition, and other high-risk work.
Maintain training and competency records for all low-voltage personnel.
Build a strong reporting culture where near misses and hazards are raised early and stop-work authority is used without hesitation.
Workforce & Contractor Safety ManagementManage safety for Nscale full-time and contract employees, including onboarding, PPE, required certifications, and fitness for high-risk tasks.
Review and approve installation contractors\ ' safety programs, safety plans, and training records before mobilization.
Own contractor safety prequalification and onboarding requirements, working with Procurement and project managers.
Track contractor safety performance and drive corrective actions or escalation when expectations are not met.
Site Safety Program IntegrationServe as the low-voltage team\ 's EHS point of contact with the general contractor, site owner, and other trade safety programs on each site.
Align low-voltage safety plans with the general contractor\ 's site-specific safety plan, permit systems (confined space, hot work, LOTO, energized work), and orientation requirements.
Attend general contractor safety meetings and bring site-wide requirements back to low-voltage crews and contractors.
Write bridging documents where Nscale, general contractor, and owner requirements differ, so crews know which rule applies.
Provide on-site safety coverage in rare cases when there is a gap in site coverage.
Field Assurance & Incident ManagementConduct and coordinate site safety inspections, audits, and leadership safety walks across active projects.
Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Make sure incidents, near misses, and observations are reported through every program that requires them.
Manage OSHA recordkeeping and injury case management for the program in partnership with HR and site teams.
Share lessons learned and safety alerts across projects so issues found at one site are prevented at the next.
Track and report leading and lagging indicators, including TRIR, DART, near-miss reporting, inspection findings, and corrective action closure.
Provide clear monthly and quarterly EH
