Job Description: Director Surgical ServicesCollaborates with and supports the Chief Nursing Officer to accomplish the objectives of the Surgical Services Division and overall strategic plan of the hospital. Directs the day-to-day operation of the division to ensure effective leadership, staff productivity, sound employee relations, responsible fiscal practices, and efficient, safe, effective, high-quality patient care.SKILLS AND ABILITIES Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective critical thinking skills Flexible, able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently Works effectively under stress and frequently changing job requirements/situations Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance Ability to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language Proficient computer skills Demonstrates effective response to patient crisis/emergency situations Proficient in quality improvement methodologies EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES Licensed as Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon Master's degree in nursing or health-related field preferred or willing to obtain within 24 months of hire Bachelor's degree in nursing American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) EXPERIENCE Minimum of 8 years clinical experience in an acute care hospital in the last 10 years Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in surgery or surgical services Minimum 3 years managerial experience in surgery or surgical services Experience in project management and organizational development preferred Lean experience preferred GENERAL INFORMATION Union Affiliation: NoneThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
