Senior System Administrator – OPENCHIP & SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES Location: Barcelona (Spain) or Rome (Italy) – hybrid work environment. Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level. The Role We are seeking a Senior System Administrator with extensive experience in data‑center solutions focusing on virtualization, storage, and Linux environments. The role involves implementing and maintaining Linux, VMware, and NetApp infrastructure, providing technical leadership for research and development projects, and ensuring project objectives, milestones, and deliverables are met. Responsibilities Install, configure, and manage RHEL systems and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environments. Administer KVM virtualization, Puppet automation, and kernel‑level tuning. Implement system patching, STIG compliance, and release/version control. Monitor performance, handle incident response, and ensure uptime and data integrity. Automate tasks using shell scripting, Ansible, or equivalent configuration management tools. Maintain backup and recovery solutions and ensure disaster recovery readiness. Maintain accurate and comprehensive configuration documentation. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in system administration. Expertise with command‑line tools, system configuration, and server administration (Red Hat Linux Enterprise). Experience managing virtualization (VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), NetApp storage, and Dell VxBlock. Strong knowledge of IDM, Red Hat Satellite, and disaster‑recovery planning. Proficiency with Ansible for OS installation and middleware deployment. Experience with GPFS/IBM Spectrum Scale and data migration using rsync. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and documentation of technical processes. Background in programming and strong problem‑solving skills. Self‑starter with minimal supervision required. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or other vendor certifications are valuable. Located in or near Rome, Italy, or Barcelona, Spain. Soft Skills Focus on team outcomes and collaborative communication.
