Deadline to submit applications: 8th of July 2025 Financing source: Sacrificio Verde en España: Una perspectiva europea,  is financed by the project PRESP MCIN/AEI/UE - CNS Official reference number: CNS Research line: interdisciplinary  social science, political ecology Description We are seeking a Research Assistant to work in the project Green Sacrifice in Spain: A European perspective (GRES), co-funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación) and NextGenerationEU. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Christos Zografos (PI) on the study of social conflicts and controversies related to the transition to low-carbon energy systems in Spain. GRES considers the relevance, potential and limits of decolonial theory for understanding conflicts over green infrastructure and sacrifice in locations that have not been historically colonized. The project engages the tension between the fact that decolonization is not a metaphor to use for studying any injustice at any location, and the presence of logics and rhetoric of 'left behind-ness' and imperial difference mobilized in the expansion of low-carbon energy infrastructure in rural Spain. The research assistant will contribute to research on conflicts over green infrastructure, such as wind and solar energy farms, electric power transmission infrastructure, and transition mineral mining in rural Spain. The researcher will help collect and analyze data related to those conflicts in the course of putting into operation just transition infrastructure. Beyond data collection and analysis, the successful applicant will contribute to the production of outputs related to project synthesis, outreach and communication of findings. Specific Tasks: Help conduct qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, and analysis Contribute to the compilation and synthesis of project findings Collaborate on the generation of project final reports Engage in project public dissemination outcomes and/or activities Participate in project coordination meetings, and help with project coordination Requirements Training in an interdisciplinary social and/or political science related field. Proven high-quality knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis for research in interdisciplinary fields combining social and/or political science with e.g. environmental, climate, health, or other related fields Excellent organisational and project coordination skills Experience with compiling project dissemination documents, such as project summaries and/or project scientific reports Excellent written and spoken language skills in English Ability to collect and analyse empirical data in Spanish. Experience in supporting the delivery of research projects to completion Experience of working successfully in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural research teams Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously, efficiently and on-time, and meet deadlines Desirable but not compulsory: previous Research ssistant experience Group: 2 O Full time position: The position is a full-time contract, from the 1st of October until the 31st of December, official end date of the project. Terms and conditions of the contract Gross annual salary for a full-time contract is: 35.871,64. The labour contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System. Job location: Barcelona, Spain. Tipus de contracte – Indefinite, in accordance with the terms of RD 32/2021 de 28 de desembre de 2021.
