Microarchitecture Performance Engineer – DARE (RE1) Job Reference: 710_25_CS_CAPP_RE1 Closing Date: Saturday, 03 January, 2026 Location: Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Computer Sciences Department Context and Mission The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is a leading supercomputing research institute in Spain. Within the Computer Sciences department, the DARE project focuses on the RISC‑V ecosystem and high‑performance computing (HPC). The role of a Microarchitecture Performance Engineer is to analyse application bottlenecks, propose architectural and ISA solutions, and advance the RISC‑V ecosystem for HPC workloads. Key Duties Work with microarchitecture simulators for application bottleneck analysis Propose architecture/ISA solutions to identified bottlenecks Qualifications Education Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Mathematics Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Experience with microarchitecture simulators such as GEM5 or Champsim Expert level knowledge in computer architecture Good programming skills Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Good knowledge of English Knowledge of HPC architectures and systems is a plus Competences Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work within a team to complete tasks on schedule Problem‑solving, can‑do, proactive, and result‑oriented attitude Commitment to deliver high‑quality code and follow industry best practices Curiosity and willingness to learn Conditions Position located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department Full‑time contract (37.5 h/week), flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support Duration: 6 months Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + local holidays (24th and 31st December) Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and local cost of living Starting date: As soon as possible Application Procedure All applications must be submitted via the BSC website and contain: A full CV in English including contact details A cover/motivation letter in English, with a statement of interest specifying the area and topics of interest.
