Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join our Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our research projects focused on understanding the mechanisms of inter-organ communication in Parkinson's disease.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory techniques, including histological and molecular methods. Experience in working with animal models and handling human and mouse samples is highly desirable. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills, are essential for this position.

The Research Technician will be responsible for manipulating and surgically operating on mice and rats to generate and characterize rodent Parkinson's disease models. They will also process human and mouse samples, analyze and interpret data, and participate in group meetings and scientific seminars.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manipulation and surgery of mice and rats to generate and characterize rodent Parkinson's disease models
  • Processing human and mouse samples (histology, microscopy, biochemical and molecular analyses)
  • Analyzing and interpreting data
  • Participating in group meetings and scientific seminars

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health/Life Sciences
  • Completed Master's degree in Neurosciences, Translational Biomedicine Research, Microbiology or similar
  • Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English
  • Experience and knowledge of basic laboratory histological techniques and molecular techniques

Desirable:

  • Previous knowledge in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, specifically in Parkinson's Disease
  • Certification and experience working with animal models and knowledge of animal experimentation techniques
  • Experience in specific software for image and data analysis
