We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Hitachi Energy in Zaragoza, Spain. This role will involve researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.

This position will be based in our factory focused on Dry Transformers, where you will work closely with the end customer, sales, project management, and mechanical design department to develop optimal technical solutions based on materials and loss optimization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Dimensioning dry transformers dielectrically, magnetically, thermally, and mechanically based on customer specifications and factory requirements.
  • Working closely with the end customer, sales, project management, and mechanical design department to develop optimal technical solutions based on materials and loss optimization.
  • Being involved in both tender and order transformer designs, conducting design reviews with end customers, and providing technical support to our sales department during tender negotiations.
  • Contributing to the development of the product to maintain our position as a leading manufacturer of large power transformers.
  • Preparing specifications, technical reports, and related documents in accordance with requirements, established formats, and general instructions.
  • Reviewing and analyzing a variety of engineering data, customer specifications, documents, and reports.
  • Consulting with other engineering groups to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application and recommending revisions as appropriate.
  • Participating in the investigation of technical issues and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions.
  • Choosing specific technical accessories compatible with the design and customer requests, and preparing cost estimations of the design in several stages (as sold, as designed, as built), ensuring ownership of the design to avoid deviations in costs and performance.

Requirements include:

  • A Master's degree in engineering with a major in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or engineering physics.
  • Around 2 years of professional experience working with transformers is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Independence and resolution are important qualities, along with a curious mind and a flair for innovation and business.
  • Strong proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS-Office).
  • Capability in a 3D modeling package would be considered a plus.
