Principal Data Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics organization at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our data estate and driving business outcomes through data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and oversight for data engineering strategy, data orchestration architecture, and data operations execution framework.
- Data Architecture: Define the target data architecture for Siemens Energy's data estate, considering business areas, data domains, data products, and integration and provisioning for multi-purpose consumption patterns.
- Product Ownership: Act as the product owner of our data platform and technology services, defining platform requirements and roadmap, and contributing to the design of underlying infrastructure for data sharing, provisioning, and access management.
- Operational Excellence: Define the target operating model of a modern data and AI factory, creating a framework to monitor and manage performance and quality of integration pipelines, and measure and improve data development velocity and efficiency.
- Standards and Design Patterns: Define standards and design patterns to optimize data sharing without sacrificing flexibility, promote scale, and a composable data landscape that serves current and future data needs.
- Cost Management: Provide a good foundational framework for cost management and control for data and platform operations.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with data owners and delivery teams to design and execute key initiatives, defining minimum viable product (MVP) scope for upcoming initiatives and outlining future roadmap of enhancements and potential improvements.
- Integration and Access Control: Work with enterprise architects and IT and software engineering organizations to define data integration requirements and access control framework for data provisioning at scale.
- Advocacy and Innovation: Advocate modern ways of software development and be an ambassador for scrum and SAFe frameworks, keeping up-to-date with latest developments in data science and data engineering.
- Documentation and Communication: Document and present methodologies, procedures, and project results to stakeholders and data professionals across different functions.
- Experience: Extensive experience in data & analytics, data architecture, and at least 5+ years of experience as a team lead.
- Skills: Excellent understanding and working knowledge of data ingestion, data modeling & analytics, database and data warehouse modeling, streaming and batch data pipelines, cloud and hybrid infrastructures, streaming frameworks, modern software development tools, data analysis, cloud providers in data architecture, and data mesh implementation.
- Soft Skills: Strong customer focus, excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate across multicultural, global teams, navigate complex matrixed organizations, and drive outcomes at scale.
- Language: Excellent writing and communication skills in English, knowledge of German or any other language is a plus.
