Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our applied research and innovation team at NielsenIQ. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, deep learning, language models, GenAI, and process automation.
Responsibilities include analyzing data, researching the most appropriate techniques, and developing, testing, supporting, and delivering proof of concepts to resolve real-world and large-scale challenging problems.
Collaborate with other team members and company stakeholders to develop and apply machine learning innovations.
Understand the requirements and communicate results and conclusions in a clear and accurate manner.
Perform feasibility studies and analyze data to determine the most appropriate solution.
Work on various data challenges, ensuring a combination of simplicity, scalability, reproducibility, and maintainability within the ML solutions and source code.
Collaborate with other technical fellows on the integration and deployment of ML solutions.
Encourage team building, motivation, and cultivate effective team relations.
Qualifications:
PhD/Masters in a specific area of AI/ML with scientific soundness and published papers.
Ability to understand scientific papers and develop the idea into executable code.
Hands-on expertise in Machine Learning, NLP, LMs, GenAI, signal processing, and data science.
Previous experience with key information extraction, product retrieval, and product matching.
EDA analysis and practical hands-on experience with datasets, ML models, and evaluations.
Proficiency in Python, Pytorch, Git, pandas, dask, polars, sklearn, huggingface, docker, and databricks.
Analytical mindset, problem-solving, and logical thinking capabilities.
Proactive attitude, constructive, intellectual curiosity, and persistence to find answers to questions.
High level of interpersonal and communication skills in English and strong ability to meet deadlines.
Keen to work as part of a diverse team of international colleagues and in a global inclusive culture.
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience with evidence in a related ML field.
Desired Skills:
Experience working with large datasets, production-grade code, and operationalization of ML solutions.
Experience in MLOPs (MLFlow, Prefect) and deployment of AI/ML solutions to the cloud (esp. Azure).
Robotic Process Automation and a practical grasp of databases (SQL, ElasticSearch, Pinecone, Faiss).
Previous experience in retail, consumer, ecommerce, business, FMCG products (NielsenIQ portfolio).
