Santander, a leader in helping people and businesses prosper, is seeking a skilled Compliance AML Risk Management Specialist to join its team. This role plays a key part in managing and mitigating model risk related to anti-money laundering (AML) models.

As a Compliance AML Risk Management Specialist, you will work closely with the model development, validation, and governance teams to ensure models adhere to regulatory standards and address Model Risk Management Group (MRMG) findings. Your responsibilities will include supporting ongoing compliance with applicable regulations, driving the execution of action plans to mitigate risks and improve model performance.

You will also monitor and manage risk/exposure by adhering to company policies. In this role, you will identify, manage, and report on the company's risk areas. Additionally, you will evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of data, model, and monitors systems.

This position requires strong quantitative capabilities and analytical skills, including an investigative mindset. You must be able to build and foster internal relationships, possess strong organizational and time management skills, and have the ability to analyze risk and provide recommendations and/or resolutions to minimize risk.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a similar quantitative discipline. A Master's Degree in a related field is preferred. The salary range for this position is $65,625 - $137,500 per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the AML and Model Risk Management teams to establish and leverage appropriate systems and processes to develop, validate, and maintain optimal efficiency and effectiveness of financial crime models.
  • Works closely with business stakeholders to provide detailed model documentation, including validation reports, assumptions, limitations, and compliance metrics.
  • Assesses model health within a given framework using statistical methods, evaluation of assumptions, and drives timely remediation efforts.
  • Maintains and executes inquiries with SQL, SAS, Python, and ETL to perform analyses of the underlying data in our systems and highlight trends, issues, and findings.
  • Develops reporting solutions, including designing stored procedures, view queries, and tables.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of model risk and model policies, guidelines, validation, and development procedures, controls, tools, and templates.
  • Ensures that all company activities adhere to necessary rules and regulations, and provides requisite information in support of independent audit activities.
  • Performs analytical research in support of the Compliance Department, with a strong focus on AML/BSA, including the design, development, and implementation of information-based business solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a similar quantitative discipline.
  • Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ Years of Risk Management, Risk Modeling, AML experience, with 2+ years of Analytics or Modeling experience.
  • Preferred licenses/certifications: Python, MS 360, SAS, Oracle, or similar.
