About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter, Liability Expert to join our dynamic and diverse team at Allianz Commercial. As a key member of our global risk assessment and underwriting team, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic decisions, optimizing risk management strategies, and ensuring the sustainable growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite large complex new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets as well as in line with Liability governance framework.
  • Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers.
  • Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance.
  • Proactively drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary).
  • Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market, including very large clients.
  • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting process, including e.g. Allianz Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations.
  • Propose an optimal portfolio structure and anticipate portfolio development trends.
Requirements
  • Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline.
  • Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII).
  • Significant relevant experience in Liability insurance, experience in handling global/regional program preferred.
  • Significant experience in (cross-border) underwriting profitable business in Liability and understanding of products and portfolio accordingly.
  • Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Liability.
  • Well-established relationships with brokers and recognized as expert within market.
  • Expert understanding of regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape, including significant global elements as well as respective legal and regulatory framework.
  • Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation.
  • Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Significant experience working in complex, global matrix organization.
  • Willingness for business trips.
  • Fluent English and Spanish language skills.
