Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Specialist to join our Cloud Operations & Innovation team at Microsoft. As a Critical Environment Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the infrastructure that supports our cloud services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operations Specialist: Serve as a subject matter expert in one major area of critical environment operations, working independently on advanced tasks and providing guidance to junior team members.
  2. Facility Equipment Inspection: Regularly inspect and supervise critical environment-related facility equipment, including controls, HVAC, and mechanical systems, to identify unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalate per applicable policies and standards.
  3. Work Order Management: Utilize our internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track equipment assets and complete work order requests for maintenance work.
  4. Incident Response: Safely and quickly respond to and lead onsite incident response teams for all abnormal conditions that impact operations, coordinating with other critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs.
  5. Procedure Development: Enhance, develop new, or follow preexisting emergency operating procedures (EOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in relation to critical environment operations and incidents.
  6. Maintenance and Repair: Perform various types of maintenance and repairs, following methods of procedure (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs), for one or more types of equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems.
  7. Troubleshooting: Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment works and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within their trained discipline.
  8. Consultation: Provide consultation to lower-level colleagues in troubleshooting systems and problems.
  9. Safety and Security: Understand, follow, and ensure safety and security requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of critical environment operations and a proven track record of maintaining complex infrastructure. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
