About Amazon's VAT Compliance Team
Amazon's vision is to be the world's most customer-centric company, building a platform where people can discover and buy anything online. Our diverse online business requires VAT filings in various European jurisdictions, creating specific VAT compliance obligations for third-party sellers. The European VAT Compliance & Controllership team, located primarily in London and Bratislava, is responsible for these obligations. We're seeking a skilled Tax Compliance Specialist to join our VAT C&C; team in Barcelona.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify the VAT registration and compliance status of third-party sellers;
- Provide transactional and other data to tax authorities for third-party sellers;
- Manage and control access of third-party sellers to Amazon marketplaces based on VAT compliance status and requests from tax authorities;
- Assist with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions;
- Respond to VAT compliance queries from Amazon businesses operating across Europe;
- Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis;
- Support colleagues throughout the business and, in particular, accounting groups;
- Participate in cross-functional projects;
- Map VAT compliance processes and identify areas for improvement;
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications;
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department;
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in a multi-national finance and/or VAT compliance function;
- Fluent verbal and written skills in Mandarin for engaging with tax authorities;
- Part of full professional tax or finance qualifications or similar credentials an advantage;
- Technical background and programming skills (SQL, VBA, Python, etc.);
