Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team in Barcelona. As a Tax Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the VAT compliance status of our third-party sellers, providing data to tax authorities, and controlling access to our websites.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Confirm VAT Registration and Compliance Status: Verify the VAT registration and compliance status of third-party sellers.
  2. Provide Data to Tax Authorities: Provide transactional and other data to tax authorities in respect of third-party sellers.
  3. Manage Access to Amazon Marketplaces: Manage and control access of third-party sellers to Amazon marketplaces based on VAT compliance status and requests from tax authorities.
  4. Assist with VAT Registrations: Assist with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions.
  5. Respond to VAT Compliance Queries: Respond to VAT compliance queries from Amazon businesses operating across Europe.
  6. Provide Audit Support: Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis.
  7. Support Colleagues: Provide support to colleagues throughout the business and, in particular, accounting groups.
  8. Participate in Cross-Functional Projects: Participate in cross-functional projects.
  9. Identify Process Improvement Opportunities: Actively map VAT compliance processes and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience in a multi-national finance and/or VAT compliance function
  • Fluent verbal and written skills in Italian, German, or Spanish
  • Part or full professional tax or finance qualifications or similar credentials an advantage
  • Technical background and programming (SQL, VBA, Python etc.)
  • Clear, crisp, and proactive documentation of operational procedures required to tackle known risk related patterns
  • Organized, analytical, and methodical with attention to detail
  • A proven team player with a hands-on team-oriented attitude
  • Able to take ownership of work, implement change, and demonstrate a problem-solving approach
  • Ability to effectively manage time and individually prioritize multiple tasks of competing priority
