Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Governance Analyst to play a pivotal role in harnessing the power of data to drive business enablement and efficiency.

Our data governance framework ensures data accuracy, security, and accessibility.

The successful candidate will oversee the implementation, maintenance, and alignment of our new data catalog tool with our data governance policies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the implementation of data governance tooling and projects, including data catalog solutions.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Establish and maintain governance standards around data lineage, quality management, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with data owners, technical teams, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and consistent data definitions and standards.
  • Monitor, identify, and remediate data risks and issues within workstreams.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to data users on data governance best practices and the use of data governance tools.
  • Improve internal technical documentation of data processes and procedures.
  • Set and manage OKRs, and interface with PMO to establish priorities and ensure projects are staying on track toward business goals.
  • Stay updated with changing regulations, policies, and industry trends in data governance and data cataloging.

Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

2+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or other data-related fields.

Understanding of data governance principles and/or a willingness to learn best practices.

Foundational understanding of regulatory requirements related to data governance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Familiarity with Excel/Sheets and SQL or a SQL-like language.

Basic understanding of big data environments (e.g., BigQuery, AWS Athena, Airflow).

Experience working with technical, data, and business teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a diverse team of stakeholders.

Experience with a data catalog tool is a bonus.

Interest in the media/publishing industry and/or subscription business is a bonus
