Senior Research Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Analyst to join our team at S&P Global Commodity Insights. As a key member of our Upstream Asset Valuation team, you will be responsible for maintaining, growing, and enhancing the African upstream content in our Upstream Asset Valuation platform, Vantage.
Responsibilities:- Upstream Asset Evaluation: Conduct thorough research and analysis to evaluate upstream assets across Africa, including reserve estimation, production forecasting, field development planning, and cost estimation.
- Asset Modelling: Develop and maintain complex models to estimate the production and costs of oil and gas projects in the region, including conventional, unconventional, and green projects.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a team of geologists, economists, and engineers to capture risk and uncertainty and develop relevant scenarios.
- Independent Research: Conduct independent research, integrating findings with internal sources and leveraging personal technical knowledge and understanding of regional market dynamics to build consistent and insightful asset analysis.
- Client-Facing: Communicate complex concepts and workflows in a clear and structured way to clients, both internally and externally.
- Education: University degree in Petroleum Engineering, Engineering, Geology, and/or Economics or related subjects.
- Experience: Minimum of two years' work experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in the Nigeria sector.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluency in English, working knowledge of common spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software, self-motivated, multi-tasker, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge: Good understanding of the upstream oil and gas sector, including field development, cost estimation, supply/demand, midstream infrastructure, and regulatory issues.
- Previous Experience: Previous experience in an operating company or as an upstream researcher/analyst for a research or consulting firm.
- Business Planning: Experience in business planning, development, and investment appraisal of oil and gas projects.
- Clean Energy: Experience in clean energy and decarbonization technologies.
- Technical Skills: Comfortable working with large datasets, experience using Excel and PowerBI an advantage.
