We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and safety-conscious Fire Assayer to join our team at ALS Geochemistry in Malaga. As a Fire Assayer, you will play a critical role in the precious metal recovery process using traditional fire assay techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process.
- Fuse mixtures in a high-temperature furnace to extract precious metals, including gold.
- Perform cupellation and prilling daily to collect and prepare metal samples.
- Conduct thorough inspections of samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills before laboratory testing.
- Record any anomalies to ensure the accuracy and quality of the assay process.
- Adhere strictly to fire assay safety procedures, proactively identifying and addressing potential safety issues.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the assay process.
- Clear communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to perform procedures promptly and accurately.
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, following detailed training and safety protocols.
- Ability to thrive in a physically demanding, high-temperature work environment.
- Flexibility and reliability to meet the dynamic demands of the department.
