Skydance Animation is seeking a highly skilled Character Surfacing Artist to join our team. As a Character Surfacing Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality texture maps and materials for movie characters and props.
Key Responsibilities- Creates textures utilizing photography and pre-existing textures.
- Paints stylized textures from concepts following the look of the show.
- Creates procedural textures from Substance designer.
- Ability to create, adapt, and iterate, within a variety of artistic styles.
- Works with the Production team, Art Director and Visual Effects Supervisor to create the desired look for characters that may reflect any of a wide variety of styles.
- Keeps up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company in the development of a stronger creative and technical environment.
- Clear understanding of UVs and texture layout.
- Collaborates with other team members, when necessary.
- Follows the Supervisor's and Lead's guidance.
- 3-5 years in VFX or animation industries.
- 1+ years in the animation industry is desirable.
- Possesses deep knowledge of creating UVs.
- Knowledge of skinning, rigging, lighting and optimization.
- Strong artistic or/and technical aptitude related to 3D animation.
- Experience in Mari, Maya, Substance Designer, Painter, Renderman, Houdini.
- High English level desirable.
- Spanish desirable.
