About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fabrication Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for supporting students and staff in the use of digital fabrication machines, providing technical assistance on research projects, and teaching assistance in courses focused on digital fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and guidance to students and staff on the use of digital fabrication machines, including CNC milling, laser cutting, 3D printing, and other technologies.
- Assist in the management and organization of the laboratory's booking system, ensuring efficient use of equipment and resources.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new fabrication techniques and technologies, staying up-to-date with industry advancements.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to design and implement new projects, products, and services.
- Provide teaching assistance in courses focused on digital fabrication, sharing knowledge and expertise with students.
Requirements
- Strong technical skills in digital fabrication, including CNC manufacturing, laser cutting, 3D printing, and other relevant technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and problem-solving.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Passion for innovation, creativity, and continuous learning, with a desire to stay up-to-date with industry advancements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managing students and interacting with a team, with a strong focus on communication and collaboration.
- Knowledge of parametric design, digital fabrication, electronics, physical computing, and relevant technologies.
- Previous experience in teaching or training, with a strong focus on sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Fluency in English, with a strong preference for Spanish language skills.
