About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Animation Lead to join our team at Promote Project. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of animators, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their professional and creative growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership: Lead and manage the animation team, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure the team's success and growth.
  2. Animation Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain animation pipelines with tech art and engineering to optimize workflow and efficiency.
  3. Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate across disciplines to ensure animations enhance and integrate seamlessly into gameplay.
  4. Animation Quality and Performance: Ensure animation content meets aesthetic and technical requirements with an eye towards game feel and performance.
  5. Feedback and Review: Lead animation reviews and provide feedback to team members on a regular basis.
  6. Priority Setting: Work with production to set priorities and expectations with the team on a per milestone basis.
  7. Animation Creation: Create high-quality animations for characters, creatures, vehicles, and other game assets.
Requirements
  1. Experience: 5+ years of experience in an animation field in the gaming industry, with at least two shipped titles.
  2. Technical Skills: High level of proficiency with Unreal Engine and its animation systems, including Blueprint and Sequencer experience.
  3. Character Rigging and Skinning: Deep understanding of character rigging and skinning techniques and processes, including IK, FK, and procedural technologies.
  4. Animation Project Evaluation: Experience evaluating animation project needs and resourcing that work.
  5. Leadership and Communication: Self-motivated with excellent leadership, communication, and strong technical problem-solving skills.
  6. Keyframe Animation Techniques: Expertise in keyframe animation techniques.
  7. Animation Software: Extensive knowledge of animation software, including Blender, MotionBuilder, Maya, etc. Proficiency in Blender is strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Underwater or Zero Gravity Experience: Experience animating assets for underwater or zero-gravity game environments.
  2. External Animation Partners: Experience working with external outsource animation partners.
  3. Gameplay Movement Mechanics: Solid understanding of gameplay movement mechanics and game feel.
  4. Early Access or Open Development: Experience with early access or other open development processes.
