About the Role

Skydance Animation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Layout Lead Artist to join our team. As a Layout Lead Artist, you will play a crucial role in generating the previz of our films, working closely with the storytelling team to bring our stories to life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct 3D shots to provide a visual run-through of the sets, ensuring that the characters and environments appear on camera as intended.
  • Communicate the story based on the storyboards, giving a cinematic aspect to the scenes and ensuring that the visual elements align with the narrative.
  • Aid in the rough layout of the scenes, following the storyboards to create a cohesive and engaging visual experience.
  • Utilize storyboard animatics to create 3D scenes through character blocking and acting, bringing the story to life.
  • Apply the visuals provided by character design and modeling to create the rough layout of the scenes, ensuring that the characters and environments are accurately represented.
  • Lead the team, providing support, guidance, and instruction to ensure that all assets meet the quality standards and artistic direction, and that deadlines are met.
  • Follow the Supervisor's guidance and stay up-to-date with current technology trends and tools, ensuring that the production is equipped with the best hardware and software to achieve a stronger creative technical environment.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries.
  • At least 1 year of experience as Lead in the animation industry.
  • Strong artistic or technical aptitude related to 3D animation.
  • Knowledge of photography and storytelling.
  • Experience in Maya, Premiere, and Shotgun.
  • Linux experience is a plus.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Spanish oral and written is desirable.
