About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Packaging Engineer to join our dynamic Industrial team at Affinity Petcare. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in leading our transition to sustainable packaging.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and propose new opportunities for improvement and innovation in packaging design and development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Purchasing, and Operations, to define, plan, and execute development projects focused on cost savings, supply security, innovation, and machine investment.
  • Drive innovation and work towards sustainability goals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Support and manage local packaging technicians, providing guidance and training to ensure high-quality packaging solutions.
  • Supervise the creation and implementation of new packaging formats, conducting lab tests and developing packaging prototypes as needed.
  • Create and update detailed packaging specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaborate on the approval of artwork designs, ensuring consistency and brand alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with packaging vendor assurance procedures, addressing supplier complaints and following up on action plans.
  • Evaluate and audit suppliers, implementing improvement plans where necessary to ensure high-quality packaging materials.
  • Coordinate with various plants in different countries to apply best practices and align processes, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, preferably in Packaging or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in packaging, with a strong background in industrial operations and supply chain management.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in French and Italian a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Initiative and proactive approach, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with excellent relational and communication skills.
  • Capacity for continuous learning, with a willingness to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
