About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GPU Porting Expert to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). As a key member of our Computational Earth Sciences group, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities related to porting the modules of the Earth Science models to GPUs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the department's research line on porting the modules of the Earth Science models to accelerators.
  2. Develop and lead the department's activity on development of kernels suitable to be executed on accelerators efficiently.
  3. Contribute to research in the porting of Earth Science Models for novel architectures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Excellent computer skills in high-level computer languages (particularly FORTRAN and C/C++) and experience in UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (bash, Python, etc).
  2. Previous experience in a scientific field related to the role, particularly climate or atmospherical modelling.
  3. Proven experience in accelerator porting, such as GPU porting, for numerical applications.
Desirable Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

  1. Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.
  2. Proven ability to manage large-scale, collaborative projects.
  3. Demonstrated skills in the use and support of Unix or Linux-based HPC systems.
