Accelerator Specialist for Earth Science Models

We are seeking a highly skilled GPU Porting Expert to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). As a key member of our Computational Earth Sciences group, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities related to porting the modules of the Earth Science models to GPUs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the department's research line on porting the modules of the Earth Science models to accelerators.
- Develop and lead the department's activity on development of kernels suitable to be executed on accelerators efficiently.
- Contribute to research in the porting of Earth Science Models for novel architectures.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent computer skills in high-level computer languages (particularly FORTRAN and C/C++) and experience in UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (bash, Python, etc).
- Previous experience in a scientific field related to the role, particularly climate or atmospherical modelling.
- Proven experience in accelerator porting, such as GPU porting, for numerical applications.
The following skills would be advantageous:
- Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale, collaborative projects.
- Demonstrated skills in the use and support of Unix or Linux-based HPC systems.
