In this underwriting role, you will be responsible for writing new and renewal business for an allocated range of clients across the book, collaborating with brokers and clients to support the profitable growth of a portfolio in line with the agreed Business Plan.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing submissions, including policy wording, inspection reports, and financial reports, to determine the degree of risk for each account.
  • Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector.
  • Proactively advising, assisting, servicing, and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
  • Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.
  • Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
  • Supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
  • Maintaining awareness of all claims advised.

You will report to the Underwriter Manager, Property – Iberia. We're looking for someone with:

  • An engineering degree or relevant experience in the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work in Spanish and English.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivation to grow professionally in a high-expertise team and work environment.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise to achieve collective goals.
