Underwriter Property

AXA XL is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team in Madrid, Spain. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for providing innovative and bespoke underwriting services to a wide range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review submissions, including policy wording, inspection reports, and financial reports, to determine the degree of risk for each account.
  • Calculate appropriate risk premiums by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector.
  • Proactively advise, assist, and service clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with brokers, clients, and internal functions to initiate opportunities for cross-selling and ensure account retention.
  • Control the timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process, monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits, and monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
  • Maintain awareness of all claims advised.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree.
  • Previous experience in an Underwriter Property role or knowledge of the Insurance/Risk industry and Property risks.
  • Ability to communicate and work in Spanish and English.
  • Analytical thinking, performing fact and data-based analyses of situations or issues.
  • Understanding of stakeholders' needs and concerns, and identifying points of agreement.
  • Motivation to grow professionally in a high-expertise team and work environment.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
  • Work in a team with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise to achieve collective goals.
  • Appreciate and propose new and creative ideas, taking practical considerations into account.
