About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior In-House Legal Counsel to join our team at Bunge. As an Assistant General Counsel, you will play a key role in providing legal services and support to our European operations, including Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Netherlands, and the BEMEA legal team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Management: Lead and manage a team of legal professionals within the region, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Commercial Documentation: Draft and review commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Corporate: Manage all legal requirements for corporate entities within the country, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Disputes: Provide pre-litigation legal advice and assistance, including advising on, resolving, and avoiding disputes and problems.
  • Litigation Case Management: Handle and draft pleadings for arbitration/litigation cases, instructing and managing external counsel as needed.
  • Transactional Work: Serve as a legal advisor and/or support country lawyers on business transactions, including M&A, JV, and other transactional work.
  • Compliance: Work with the compliance department to ensure the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Business Relationship: Develop a working partnership with the business, understanding the business, key customers, and suppliers, and proactively addressing issues faced and opportunities presented.
  • Legal Support Technology: Manage and support the Bunge approach on key technology solutions, including Docusign, tracker, and other systems.
  • Representation: Represent the organization before authorities, administrative, or quasi-judicial agencies.
Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer in a European jurisdiction.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral).
  • Good business sense.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others and to build relationships and trust.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
