The Barcelona Supercomputing Center's Life Science Department is seeking a highly motivated Master's student to contribute to the development of Machine Translation technology for the Catalan language. This project is part of the AINA initiative, aiming to create language resources and technologies for the Catalan language.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in group meetings and scientific discussions to advance the project's goals.
- Prepare and present scientific articles on Machine Translation and related topics.
- Collaborate with the team in the preparation and presentation of scientific projects.
- Contribute to the generation and evaluation of language resources in Catalan.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in linguistics, translation, or a related field with a background in computation, and Master's courses in computational linguistics.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: Programming skills in Python and Bash, ability to access and evaluate scientific literature.
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: Native competence in Catalan, good knowledge of Spanish, fluency in spoken and written English, and strong interest in NLP, Computational Semantics, and Machine Translation.
- Competences: Good communication and presentation skills, ability to work independently and within a team.
Working Conditions
- The position will be located at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center within the Life Sciences Department.
- We offer a full-time contract, a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, and an extensive training plan.
- Duration: Internship with the university.
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
- Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, according to the cost of living in Barcelona.
